Photographer Lenara Choudhury Interview (NSFW)
Lenara Choudhury: My perfect day would begin with ‘top-notch’ breakfast followed by a bath and then a productive day shooting. I like it when [shoots are] intense and non-stop. After, the team and I would unwind with a drink reflecting on the day’s work and normally would result into already preparing for the next shoot. That’s my perfect day.
LC: I currently have an obsession with really tall London buildings. I’m afraid of heights so it’s nicer taking photographs of building from below.
LC: I’m a freelance photographer.
LC: Everything. Fashion relates to pretty much everything. It doesn’t necessarily have to be from television, magazines or the catwalk. I find I’m attracted to it more and more through normal day activities so everything.
LC: Firstly, I would look at past works. Then I have a one-on-one meeting to make sure we get along. But most of the time my team members are recommendations through friends or people I have already met. It’s not so hard picking, it’s more about individuals being passionate about the work they do. Without the passion you’re just a number.
LC: Leaving the lens cap on before starting the shoot I front of the whole team. VERY EMBARRASSING!
LC: There’s always something we all need to work on but I think my one main concern would be patience. I am the most impatient person ever!
LC: I’d love to do collaborations with Ryan McGinley and David Shrigley. I think they are both great artists.
LC: Having passion, a positive attitude and being Happy—that’s what separates me from many in my field. I feel this can be seen in a lot of my work.
LC: It’s not all laughs and giggles. Be prepared to work hard and take criticism/advice with a positive attitude.
LC: PARIS! I love Paris so much it’s one of my favorite places in the world. Red wine, cigarettes and beautiful French boys—what more can you ask for??
LC: When [life] gets tough, just laugh at yourself and stay positive. I do it all the time.
